I have worked with Adobe Photoshop 2.5 with Windows 95 and all was well, until I updated my computer to Windows ME edition. Now, when I want to open a jpg file in Photoshop my mouse freezes and I have to shut down my computer and scan disk.

Do I need to upgrade Photoshop to something that will work better with Win ME?

Thanks in advance for your help.

2.5? you’re kidding right? 🙂 sorry, yes you probably should upgrade. we’re on version 8 of photoshop. your 2.5 qualifies for the upgrade price ~$169 vs +$600 for a new full version. so there’s a good deal for you there. but even photoshop elements at around 49 bux would do more than you could ever dream of compared to photoshop 2.5! let me congratulate you on getting your money’s worth out of that application!

You should consider upgrading to Windows Home Edition before doing any Photoshop upgrade. ME is notorious for screwing up things and crashing for no apparent reason. wrote in message

Bernice,

Adding to Dave’s reply, were you to upgarde to Photoshop CS (PS8), you would also need to change your O/S to Win2k or XP.

However since ME was the worst O/S Microsft have produced, that would be no bad thing!

As to your current problem, if you installed ME over the top of an existing Win95, that’s not a very good idea. You should always install an O/S to its own, new, folder, preferably on a freshly formatted partition, and then re-install all software, drivers etc.

It may also be worth checking for updated mouse drivers.

Thanks, Dave & Len, for your advice. I appreciate that.

If anyone has any other advice, I would appreciate it.
