Do you have to add a spot color to an image through a new spot color channel? Is there any other way to add a spot color to an image?

What do ink jet printers do with spot colors?

In the new spot color channel dialog box, what does the solidity option do?

Beside a spot channel, you can use duotone mode to add a spot color in PS.

Ink jets, since they don’t have a toner for each spot color, simulate the spot in some mix of CMYK.

The solidity setting emulates ink opacity on the theory that the spot ink will print on top of the other colors in the file and obscure them to some degree.

Changing this setting will not affect a separated output of the other channels, but will affect a composite printout to an inkjet.

Do a forum search on solidity.
