saving as jpeg when .psd is the only option

I acquired a series of pictures from my digital camera onto photoshop, but on trying to save it as an image .jpeg prefereably or even .gif I do not see those options ot save as, only thing I see is .psd what am I doing wrong?

What image mode are the files in? Try changing to rgb, and you should be able to save as jpg.
