I want to make a poster. First I’m going to make a nice background in PS(Photoshop7).Then I use FH(Freehand10) to make a logo for my poster. Now I should import the logo from FH to PS or PS to FH? For FH to PS I have to export my logo as jpg or gif and open in PS.It’s not a good idea, because If you make your logo transparent gif (when you export it from FH), it will be locked when you open it in PS and you can’t drag it in your Background made in another ps document.Try it! If you save your background in your ps as jpg and import it in FH, when you put your logo on your background and finally save your FH as jpg(it is a poster for web) the quality of my background is not as good as(what is saved as jpg in) PS.What is your solution? What do you usually do?It seems to me that FH spoils the background made in PS and PS spoiled the logo made in FH!

Take your b/g from Photoshop into Freehand, but NOT as a jpg! Use TIFF

Have you tried to simply cut and paste from Freehand into Photoshop? When pasting, it will ask you if you want to paste it as pixels, paths or a shape layer. Your only real choice is pixels because it will give you an error message telling you it can’t parse the clipboard when you try the other options.

Try it and see if this solves your problem. It usually works well for me.

I’d like to add that Reza can ALSO open both PS and FH windows, select the paths in FH, begin to drag to the PS window, then hold the control key down, and now complete the drag. Voilá… FH paths in PS. The paths will be just that: paths, no fill. If you want to include the fill, use Edit>Copy Special>EPS for Photoshop Pixels. Then paste into PS.
