Simply open up the watermark which you want to use, do a select all and then copy. Open up one of the images and then create your action – use the paste command and the watermark will be pasted onto the image, then flatten, do a save as and close. Finish the action and it should be ready to go.
When you run it, first open up the watermark image hit [ctrl]+a, then
[ctrl]+c (which places the image on the clipboard) and then run your
action on a folder of images – don’t forget to check the ‘override save as’ in the actions palette and choose a different folder to save to otherwise you will overwrite your existing images.

Thanks for the reply.Your suggestion seems to work fine until I start the batch when I immediately get a panel saying "The object"layer "Clive Barda" is not currently available". I’ve tried it several times and can’t seem to get around it. Any other thoughts?

As Carol says, you create an action that pastes clipboard then aligns your logo. If your logo is text only, you can record typing your logo in. Before running the action you have to copy your logo to clipboard.
So…
As Carol said, open your logo, copy it to clipboard. Close it. Open a dummy image and begin recording the following:
Edit|Paste; Ctrl-A (select all), Layer|Align to Selection|Bottom; Layer|Align to Selection|Right – this presumes you want the logo aligned in the lower right hand corner of the images. You can use your arrow keys to record Nudging of the logo for tweaking it up or left a bit if you wish… you’re still recording btw…
Next File|Save As… pick a file format and carry the image all the way through to actually saving the file so that you record all the options you wish.
Stop recording.
You are now ready to batch, but the filename and destination are hard coded into the action so…
Toggle the dialog of the Save As portion to OFF.
File|Automate|Batch.
Action to run = action you just created.
Source = Folder
Choose = location of your images
Destination = Folder
Choose = where you want them saved (best if its a different folder) Override action Save As Options = CHECKED
Optionally enter a naming convention
Hit go and go get some coffee. Each image will open, the contents of the clipboard will be pasted and aligned, the the file will be saved and close.

Thanks very much for this most helpful advice.Two small further queries. You refer to the Save As dialog box to toggle the option to OFF. Where exactly is that? There doesn’t seem to be an OFF option in the dialog box which appears when you hit "Save As".
Also, when I try to nudge the position of the watermark with the arrows after using "Align to Selection" in Layers the outline of the image with the watermark on it moves (not the watermark itself)but when I start the action the watermark is right where it was before!

Look in the Action Pallet. Just to the left of the action name are two boxes: one is a checkbox, the other is the dialog toggle. It should be OFF, not present, just an empty square.
Also, when I try to nudge the position of the watermark with the arrows after using "Align to Selection" in Layers the outline of the image with the watermark on it moves (not the watermark itself)but when I start the action the watermark is right where it was before!
You have to make sure you are on the watermark layer when you record those nudges – you have somehow targeted a different layer when recording and are moving that one.
