I would like to know if there is an easy way to crop the data extruding from the canvas for only one layer instead of using the crop tool to crop the extruding data from the entire compilation.

What about selecting this layer, select all (CTRL + A), Make new layer (CTRL + J) and then delete the former layer?

Instead of using the crop tool, you can also use a selection tool such as the marquis and then click "select inverse". Then delete. That will delete the unselected area but only on that layer.
