This is a colossal problem for me. I have thousands and thousands of images that have been losslessly rotated with a program called Exifer. Exifer’s claim to fame is it doesn’t remove/alter EXIF information. My images appear fine in XP, fine in ACDSee, and just as fine in Photoshop 7. With Photoshop CS, it appears to recognize the orientation tag and proceeds to automatically rotate the file, which is pretty nice, but Exifer has already done that for me. How do I turn this auto orienting feature in CS off? Everything has long since been burned to CD-ROM…

One day they might be consolidated to DVD however, so how can I reset the orientation tag on all my images to "Top/Left side" or "Normal" as PSCS calls it. Anyone aware of a program that can alter tags with multiple selected files or recursively from the commandline? Exifer can strip the EXIF tags completely, but I’m looking for something a little less invasive. Can "Edit|Replace Metadata" in File Browser do that for me?

BTW, this is by just dragging and dropping from Explorer or using File|Open, (you can see the status bar perform the Rotate Canvas command before it draws). I do not use the File Browser. I would, but I can’t tolerate the PSCS load time just to orient some pics before viewing. Will it launch on it’s own?

What do you guys use to losslessly rotate? I ended up with Exifer, because the XP rotate command is very basic and only works with divisible-by-16 resolutions, not the divisible-by-8 resolution my Canon S400 uses. The Canon software is junk and I use a card reader anyways.

And yes, I know PSCS is operating correctly in this regard, however nothing else was, including PS7, so I had to work around them…and now it’s biting me in the ass.
