I am trying to install Adobe Photoshop 7 on my Dell Inspiron 4100 and every time it starts out fine but when it is in the process of installing an error occurs that reads as follows:

Component Move Date

Media Name: Data
Component: App_Photoshop/web
File: Adobeweb.dll
Error number: -106

My operating system is Windows XP. Any suggestions?

I’m having the exact same problem. I also have XP and I’m getting the same error message when it’s 64% of the way through installation.
Hope someone has the answer.

erase all files in your temp directory and try again.

if that doesn’t work, copy the photoshop folder from the cd to your desktop and run the setup.exe from the new folder.

I’m having the same sort of problem. the program extracts to 42% then fails due to the data1.cab file being unable to be moved. Have tried to move this manually to the HDD as suggested above but it would not copy as it is a invalid ms dos function. using XP pro

Jason,

Either the CD image is damaged or you have a problem with your CD-ROM.

Is this from the ORIGINAL Photoshop CD?

I also got a -106:
file group: plugins_ps_automate
file: exportwizard.8li
component: move data

I am running windows xp home.
I received an error when I tried to copy the photoshop folder to my hard drive – cannot copy data1 – data error (cyclic redundancy error)

Sounds like a damaged cd or a suspect cd rom drive
