I am a long time photoshop user, and just recently noticed that the color of an image in Photoshop is different from, lets say, a web page. To further clarify, if I copy an image from the web and paste it in Photoshop, it tends to have a red tint to it in comparison with the actual image from the webpage. For reference, I am using Photoshop 7. Is there some way to change how the colors are represented in Photoshop, or any other solution or explanation for this?

Thanks,
John

John,

Photoshop is a color managed application, the web is not. If you want your images in photoshop to look like they will on the web (or nearly), change your working space to Web Color Space or turn off color management (Edit|Color Settings).

See this 15 minute read on Color Management from Ian Lyons.

John,
It’s a color management thing, and is related to your color preferences . Check out <http://www.computer-darkroom.com/ps7-colour/ps7_1.htm> , Ian Lyons’ article on Photoshop 7 color management.
