Photoshop CS Crash, Fire Wire

When I try to open files on an external fire wire drive, photoshop crashes, when I go to a directory that has raw files in it. It just hangs and will not respond.

It may be an I/O issue with the drive. In general, the best practice is to copy to the local drive first then open in PS.

Having said that, as firewire is a strategy I have been considering for some time. Would you mind sharing what drive you have? Because if it’s not going to work with PS, then the strategy won’t work for me, so I’m curious.
