CS Upgrade Install Difficulty Recognizing Old PS Disk

Just tried installing PS CS on a new system. I was installing an upgrade. I chose to have PS verify that I was a candidate for the upgrade by having it check the PS 6.0 CD I have (and I know this is a good CD and used it for upgrade verification going from 6.0 to 7.0 on the old system without a hitch). When it asks me to put in the old CD and I do so and click next it sometimes will go to the part of the verification where it says it is checking for valid media and sometimes not…but either way it keeps coming back to the screen that says it needs to check for the CD and to put the CD in and click next…can’t seem to get beyond that screen and seems like it just can’t verify the old 6.0 CD. I know the drive sees a disk in there because when I take the CS disk out and put the 6.0 disk in the autoplay starts on the 6.0 disk.

Any solutions other than to install 6.0 on the new system and then try installing CS and telling it to check the system for old versions?

If I’m understanding exactly where you’re getting stuck then I agree, that’s a very confusing screen. I think I hit next about 10 times before I realized that when you get to that point, it’s actually already confirmed the original media and it’s time to switch the CDs again.

Wow, I will have to try that when I get home tonight. When I did the upgrade to 7.0 from 6.0 it, as I recall, confirmed that it read the old CD and prompted me to put the new 7.0 disk back in. I could swear that it was the exact same screen as when it asked me to put the 6.0 disk in. Well, I am not at home now and so will check tonight. You would think they wuld give you a confirmation and go ahead and put the new disk back in screen.

it also tells you to hold down the shift key when reinserting CS to stop the autoplay from running, but forgets to mention that you can also do this when inserting the previous version disk (6).

Don’t. Like I said, I hit the okay key about 10 times before simply trying to swap the disks back.

Very poor job on the verbiage for that screen.
