While working in Photoshop, Windows (XP) froze on me. I had recently saved the document so I wasn’t worried and I had to do a hard shut down. When I rebooted and attempted to open the document, I get an error message saying the document cannot be opened because it is "Not compatible with this version of Photoshop."

I’m on WindowsXP, Photoshop 7.0. Anyone have a suggestion for me? I’ve tried to xcopy to a different directory and I’ve tried the system restore option. Neither has worked.

Thanks for any help.

Christopher,

Basically, Yes you are – but I would be just as concerned as to WHY XP locked up on you – that can only be a Hardware, BIOS, bad O/S install or VERY, VERY bad driver.

As it has resulted in data loss, I would investigate HDD and RAM as most likely culprits.
