Today, after loading some of the Goodies plugins and scripts for Photoshop CS I am getting an error after the initialization begins. After clicking OK to the error the programs loads and seems to work fine.
But what causes it, and how do I get rid of that error?

It reads:

The procedure entry point ??YsValues could not be located in the dynamic link library ExtendScript.dll

Windows XP Pro 200 GB hard drive 1GB Ram P4.

Thanks in advance,

Susanne

That sounds like you might have loaded some plugins from Photoshop 7 by accident.

Thanks Chris,

the problem still occurs after having "uninstalled PS CS several times, and educating myself on the preference files (trying to delete them before re installing) I find that I do not get the dialog box when using Alt+Ctrl+Shift at start up. The error comes "in between", and after clicking Ok to the error, it simply loads (I have tried the Alt+Ctrl+Shift after the error, while PS still is loading, but still no choice to delete prefs.

I am looking for a way to delete manually the preferences now, but where do I look? I have installed PS + In Design etc on my L-drive, but all the dll’s etc I would assume are on the c-drive.
Can someone tell me where to find the path to the pref folder on the drive, and when found, do I delete the folder an (all) contents?

I can use the program, but error annoys me.

Thanks in advance,

Susanne

Susanne,

Prefs should be at (in XP):

C:\Documents and Settings\(*User Name*)\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop\8.0\Adobe Photoshop CS Settings

Trash "Adobe Photoshop CS Prefs.psp" manually.

Do a Windows search for *.psp to find all PS prefs, with "advanced options/search system folders" checked in "search options", & delete any you may think could be relevant.

Plugins will be at – I’m guessing in your case –

L:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop CS\Plug-Ins

and

L:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop CS\Plug-Ins\Adobe Photoshop Only

Delete all & reinstall PS CS & IR so that only CS plugins are loaded, leaving errant 7.0 plugins out of the equation, as per Chris’ advice. Run CS to see if the problem is gone. If it is, you can try loading any other or 3rd party plugins one at a time & run CS after each to see which, if any, is the cause.

OR: choose the option during PS CS uninstall to completely remove all user preferences – this will require re-activation, so use as a last resort, but this should remove all previous prefs, CS plugins etc. Check for the plugin folders in CS before re-installing CS – they could well still contain the errant 3rd party plugins that may be causing the problem. Delete them. If the folders no longer exist, then CS uninstall has removed all plugins, and the problem may not be here.

Fred.
