I read that some of the slowdowns might be due to odd network behavior**, so I wanted to add this. I’ve been suffering from a non-Photoshop network problem lately, where I get the "error connecting to [server volume]" error message when saving a file to a network volume. This happens inconsistently, and only one message per save operation.

With Photoshop CS, however, I get repeated messages during file open or close operations, and I just have to keep clicking "OK" (however many times it takes; it varies) until the errors cease and the file opens or saves.

** The IT folks have given up and recommended that I do a full reinstall, which I will undertake as soon as I get some free time (HA!).

Well, for sake of trial and error, I’d remove all network connections and remake before trying to reload everything.

What about in safe mode with networking turned on, does this still happen?
