Opening Files in CS

Every time I open a file in CS, the upper left corner of the file is always UNDER the tool pallet, causing me to have to move the file window to the right to see and work with the whole image.

This also happens if I double click the Hand tool to get the full maximum image size, or when I use Alt + to resize the image, even after I have moved the image from under the pallet.

Is there any way to have files open so that they are not under the tool pallet? I have tried custom workspaces and this doesn’t work.

Admittedly a small annoyance, it is an annoyance which repeatedly happens and hopefully can be eliminated.

Thank you,
Ralph

Move the tool pallet so there are about 2 gray pixels above it and to the left when Photoshop is maximized. If the tool pallet is outside of a certain range Photoshop assumes it is out of the way or that you want the image to open under it. If that doesn’t work try resetting the preferences, but you shouldn’t need to do that.

Navigating to the Window menu/Workspace/Reset Palette Locations should take care of it. You can change and save your palette settings from there. Hope that helps, Bryan.

Hold done shift and let it snap to the border.
Also hitting Tab will hide Palettes Hit also the F key and see what this does. Hope this works also in CS. Don’t have it yet.

Thanks for the responses.

Moving the Tool pallet in a few pixels solved the problem.
