I have Photoshop 6 and a couple of Canon cameras (G3 and 300D). Do I need special plugin to open Canon RAW files from PS 6? Thanks.

Bottom line is that you can’t open them from PS 6 however you can use the Canon raw coverter that came with your camera to create a tif or jpg file that PS 6 can read, or if you want to get a better converter check out Capture1 LE for $99. Failing that buy Photoshop CS which has the raw converter build in ($169 I think) but be aware it only works with Win2000/XP.

Consider using BreezeBrowser (www.breezesys.com) to convert the Canon RAW files. It uses the Canon routines for that, is a very good image browser and batch processor, and has other valuable functions. "Proofs" let you reduce the pixel size to your specs, actually the maximum width and height which is way you want to specify it, and the sharpening specifications in a manner similar to Photoshop’s Unsharp Mask. BB also has a very good and very flexible website creator in which you get to
specify the pixel size and sharpening of both the main images and the thumbnail images. I consider it one of my most useful programs.
