Hi folks…

Can I run Photoshop 6.0 on a system that has Windows XP Home as its operating system (assuming, of course, that it has a Pentium processor and enough storage and memory)?

Appreciate your help.

Best

Yes, but make sure it’s patched to 6.0.1.

I also have Photoshop 6.1 and have upgraded PC to XP. Athlon 2800 and 512 ram. Adobe wont confirm that XP supports 6.1 but it does seem to work ok. The only problem that I have is that my old scanner runs from a Scsi. All drivers ets seem to be installed and accepted but as soon as I try to "import" with the scanner, 6.1 closes down.

Can anyone help?

I had the same problem with a scsi scanner in xp (acer scanner adaptec card). After 2 years I finally broke down and bought a USB scanner.

Thanks for the comments.
Must have read your mind! Whiskey bottle empty and I too finaly broke down. In desperation bought new scanner from Aldi £30. It’s superb. USB 2.0 1200x 2400.
Worked first time and has all the little quickie buttons on the front and is half the size of the old one.

same with me. i bought a refurb epson 1260 photo (w/transparency/neg. attachment) for $39US. (check the refurb section at the epson web site if anyone’s interested. free shipping too!) Only spec diff is mine’s usb 1.1. Still seems faster than the old scsi that was 600ppi max! 🙂

If you are doing transparency work I can thouroughly recommend the Minolta Dimage II if you can find a used one. Negs, trannys and APS film too. Easy to use with great results.

Adobe wont commit themselves to saying yes, but PS 6 ith the available patches/upgrades works just fine with my XP. You maynotice from other discussion comments that XP does not seem to like/support anything with a SCSI connection. i.e. my old Acer scanner. If you have any Scsi stuff it may save a lot of stress if you ditch it.

Well, I have an Adaptec 2930 SCSI adaptor driving my film scanner, and I have absolutely no problems running Windows XP (for over 18 months) with it installed.

It may be possible that older SCSI equipment has problems, if there are no specific drivers for it.
