Hi,
I’ve got a photoshop/image ready file which has about 35 layers and I need to save each layer as a seperate file (GIF). Is there an automated way to do this?

Thanks a lot,
Ray

In Photoshop CS, use the script that does just that.

Raymond,

If you don’t have PS CS yet, you should be able to create an action that at least expedites the process. I’m thinking there is a command to create a new file from a layer, but I may be confusing PS CS with earlier versions and I’m not where I can get to PS at the moment. So, apart from that, a more brute force action might do this:

Record New Action…
1. Select All
2. Copy
3. New File
4. Paste
5. Flatten
6. Save/Export as GIF or Save for Web (PS version specific)
7. Close
8. Next Layer (I forget the exact name of the command)
Stop Recording

This would still require you to manually execute the action once for each layer, but that’s still faster than doing all the steps yourself. I’m not sure how to batch the action to execute a specific number of times, or if that’s even possible. Scripting would likely be needed.

Hope that helps,

Daryl

You know, I hadn’t even noticed that script in Cs yet. Thank’s guys for pointing it out, it works like a charm!!
