Hi all

We recently upgraded one of our users from a 2000 compaq deskpro to a hp workstation with a Nvidia Quadro 4 XGL graphics card (don’t know if that’s relevant).

He is on photoshop 6 and all was fine on the old system however, on the new on things such as his color pantone has all gone pink. Whole images were affected but when I turned off colour management that sorted the images out but the pantone palettes are still all shades of pink.

I’ve tried a differnet monitor, reinstalled pshop and upgraded the videodrivers. All other programs are not affected.

I would appreciate any help on the topic. Best regards

Gerry Rigney

Gerry,

Well that IS what is causing your problem…

Open Adobe Gamma from the Control Panel.

Load the sRGB profile as a starting point.

Change the text in the description box to something like "Gary’s monitor"

Follow the on-screen instructions and save TO A NEW NAME.

Hi Len

Cheers for the reply again, sorry for the delay in thanking you. Loading the "sRGB profile" did the trick.

Thanks for all your help.

Len: Good response. One of the annoying attributes of Adobe Gamma is that it does not try to create a reasonable name for saved settings, but has the potential for inexperienced users to overwrite something like AdobeRGB. I use a Monaco product myself rather than Adobe Gamma, but I think Adobe should give some thought about creating a more reasonable default name for monitor icc. (like Monitor12-1-03.icc) It would save a lot of people a lot of headaches.
