I have a new Pc with Windows XP. Have done a clean install of 6.1 and it seems to work fine. However when I try to use the scanner, Mirascan apperas on the screen, then disappears, 6.1 minimises to the task bar and wont maximize. The scanner connects on Scsi and the card driver seems fine, as does the scanner software. All worked well on Win 98. (and still does if I transferr the card back)
It’s an Acer scanner and I have been in touch with Benq who seem to have taken them over. They seem to think that XP will not support 6.1.

Anone any ideas?

Simple test: try scanning from some other software.

My money is on the scanner not working right with XP. SCSI scanners seem to have been left out in the cold.

Ken,

Rubbish! I suspect though that either XP does not support their SCSI card or their drivers don’t support XP. Is the card on the XP Hardware compatibility listing? Are there XP Certified drivers for the scanner? If not, there’s your answer…

that was my problem. I bought the card just before xp was released, and they (adaptec) told me it was the newest card in the line and of course there would be xp signed drivers shortly. i actually bought the card on the phone with an adaptec tech who steered me to it taking into account my personal needs. Well "shortly" turned into two years later with still no driver and I decided to go usb and never again to trust adaptec. 🙂 lesson learned!
