I am having a problem with the new CS version. I have used Photoshop since version 5.5 and never had problems. Now, out of the blue, the tools in the toolbar just stop working. I have to save what I’m working on, close Photoshop and start over. This occurs over and over. I feel lke asking for my money back and returning to version 7.0. I stopped trying to use any plugins, bought additional memory (now have 2 gigs), deleted and rebuilt the Preference file (several times), but still the problem continues. The only new item I have added since version 7.0 was a Wacom tablet. Could this be the problem? Does anyone have any ideas what I can do? I’m running Windows XP, Home Edition on a 2.6 Mhz PC with 60 gig and 40 gig hard drives. HELP !!

Someone reported problems with CS and an older Wacom driver. You might try downloading the latest software for your tablet; it may not help but it sure can’t hurt.

As Ho said, my tools don’t seem to work with my wacom tablet. Even when I downloaded the new drivers it didn’t help. I have not called wacom yet for them to help me sort out the problem although I’m sure they will once I get around to it. As for now I am using my regular mouse and I am loving my CS suite.

My Wacom tablet is acting oddly with CS. For instance, if I go to adjust a slider and pull up my pen, the slider keeps active and sliding. If I try to click through palettes and I try to select one (like layers), instead of selecting it the pen holds on to it and moves layers off to it’s own palete. Very frustrating. I have the latest driver. Anyone?

Well Jill, where do I start.

I have found many bugs in the CS version of Photoshop and also ImageReady. Layer Sets really aren’t working properly and will lead to odd events in ImageReady – especially if:
1.) the Layer Set was copied from another file.
2.) has a Layer Set above or below it.
3.) was used in conjunction with slices and HTML.

As you also do, I use a Wacom Intuos-2, 9×12. I use both the pen and the mouse. It seems like you really need to adjust the parameters of your tablet for both your pen and mouse and don’t forget there are "pressure" and "mode" buttons on the face of the tablet and you may need to access those along with either re-setting the tablet to the "default" values and trying again.

It seems your pen is way too sensitive and in need of a more firm pressure setting.
