Well, I haven’t had the CS running for even a week, and I had to reset Prefs. So, before doing this, I copied the Prefs folder to My Documents, opend PS and reset with Ctrl-Alt-Shift. I exited the program and copied the Prefs to Prefs, and do you know what I got? Default prefs!

I don’t understand how to do this. And, if reset Prefs is going to be ongoing, then I damn well need to have the capability to save my Prefs if that is truly offered.

Also, I was not a happy camper right off when I tried to install pallets in the Pallet Well. It was too short to accomodate without overlapping. Now, on reset, the well is much longer. So, how to change that size?

Niggling to be sure, but akes my time available messed up.

Actually, I copied the Preset folder. I went back and searched for Preferences and couldn’t find it.

Question asked, answered, and not even an interjection from anyone. Isn’t the Photoshop forum great?:)

Rub it in, rub it in!! 😉

Is it better to save the entire Settings folder and restore as a group or one by one?

Don’t ask me. I fly by the seat of my pants! 🙂

I DO save my custom brushes, actions, styles, patterns, etc. in a seperate folder called DavesCustomPSStuff, all 3rd party plugs go into DavesPSPlugs. If I was going to back up the prefs, I’d probably do the folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAME\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop\8.0\Adobe Photoshop CS Settings

that oughta cover it.

Larry,

You can also save your environment (palette locations, etc.) as a Workspace (Window>Workspace>Save Workspace). That way if you open CS and things appear to be hosed, you can load your saved Workspace and set things right again. I saved mine twice (default 1 and default 2) just in case…
