Hello everyone,

I searched all over the net to find a suitable place to place my complaint/problem/life crisis, i should be ashamed of myself for not coming here first. Anyway, recently while using photoshop 7.0 in Windows ME(trying to be as specific as the instructions are telling to) when I tried to load my actions into the palette, I clicked on the little black arrow and to my utter dismay, it just stays clicked and doesn’t open up the menu with all the actions that are in the folder. Yes the actions are in the appropriate folder, yes i uninstalled and reinstalled photoshop TWICE, but what i notice is that the settings are the same once i re install and open photoshop again, no doubt the registry’s magic at work. Could it be that I have too many actions and it doesn’t want to open? I have 76 in total in the folder. Please, can someone PLEASE help me with this. Actions ARE photoshop to me :'(……

desperately yours, Maryam

win me has a limitation on the size of any menu. you have too many actions loaded. move some actions out or upgrade to NT, 2k or XP. none of those os’s have the problem.

I came up with a solution and kinda solved the problem, thank you anyway for ur help. I had a feeling that the amount of actions were the problem but had to be sure. It is strange though that it doesn’t give that kind of problem when it comes to showing the "About" for the tonnnnss of plugins and filters I have. I keep ME because a lot of little programs don’t seem to work at all in XP and sometimes the same problem in 2000. Thanks alot, I really appreciated ur help.

Maryam:

Glad to hear you got around your problem. I would be interested to know what your workaround solution was.

Well Danny:

I tested the theory of too many actions in the folder and it turned out to be true, the more i put, eventually it would not open the menu at all. So eventually i said I would just take all the actions out of the folder and put them some where else so that at least the menu could open and i could load the actions straight into the pallette itself. After I loaded all of my actions, it didn’t matter at all if the menu opens or not coz all of my actions are there and ready to be played…unless i have more actions to load, then i would just take the actions out into another folder and load the new ones in. That’s all….seems a bit primitive but oh well, it worked and I’m a happy camper :))
