I am running PS 7.0.1. I attempted to Open a file and the application did not respond. I rebooted the PC and the same occurrence happened. I did a cold reboot and the problem still happened.

I am running Win XP, with 384 MB of RAM.

Suggestions anyone ?!?!!?

Peter,

Does this happen with EVERY file or just a specific one?

Are you double-clicking the file in Explorer or from Photoshop’s File>Open menu item?

If the former, what happens if you use the File>Open option?

Does Photoshop open normally from the desktop shortcut?

Len,

thanks so much for responding…I am really perplexed.

basically, when I launch Photoshop 7.0.1, it goes through its programmatic load. Then, when it completes, I go to File, Open…, and then it hangs.

will say this has happens 9 out of 10 times I try….the one instance here and again that everything works fine is also inexplicable.

any other suggestions.

BTW, i was using Photoshop 6.0 and this NEVER happened. It’s only been occuring since I upgraded to 7.0 (then yesterday when I upgraded to 7.0.1….and it still didn’t fix it).

Instead of opening Photoshop first. Just drop the image file (from Windows Explorer) onto a shortcut for Photoshop and what happens?
