Ok while I realise Abobe are Postscript I am having trouble getting some large-ish postscript files to Distill in Acrobat/Rasterize in Photoshop/or open in Illustartor. Have also tried uploading to Distill Online and timed out.

They are produced by a package CadScript and they assure me it is standard and reasonably simple postscript it generates. The thing that gets me is I can output the files directly to our HP5000ps and open them in Ghostscript, also our film outputters don’t have any problem with them – so this leads me to think the postscript would be OK.

But there is something going wrong somewhere. It is usually only one or two files in the set of 10 seperations of a map that doesn’t work, and most maps run without any problem.

The PS files are 10 seperations for a map produced by a Package CadScript (a postscript soloution for MicroStation). These are then opened (rasterized at 300dpi greyscale) in Photoshop and saved as a tif. The Tifs are then used as masks for seperate colour layers in a multilayered PSD to output a cmyk tif for printing – essentially simulating a 9+ colour job while controling overprint etc.

Any advice on a way around would be appriciated.

Thanks,

Sam.
