When I try to go and add a layer style to a layer, everything gets blocked out like the window popped up, and if i use the tab button, I can modify the options, I just do not know what I am changing. I have tried to reinstall 3 times, but the same thing happens. Is there anyway I can fix this?

You can temporarily switch to a (much) higher screen resolution. That might bring the pop-up into view.
Drag it to the upper left corner, exit PS the normal way, reset your resolution, restart PS and see if it’s there.

I am on the maximum resolution. 1280×1024. I used to have dual monitors, but I dont think that is the problem, because the program i use for the dual setup, disables the 2nd monitor and moves everything over to the primary monitor.

OK, but there are a lot of cases reported here about dialog boxes that are off screen. In particular when a dual-monitor setup was changed.
Normally PS would force them to be "on" screen but sometimes the window stays off.

Maybe there is a FAQ about this.

When your layer style dialog is so far off that it shows on my monitor here in Amsterdam, I’ll mail it back to you.

Rob.

P.S. Why would "1280×1024" be the maximum?

because im only using a 17 inch monitor.

im going to try and hook up another monitor, see if that helps.

maybe i just need to uninstall photoshop, and make sure all of the extra files associated with it are gone also, because on all of the new installs, it would still give me the FILE > OPEN RECENT options that i had opened before uninstalling.

Yes, understood.

The recent file info is stored in a *.psp file (preferences) that is created after installation. That’s why it isn’t uninstalled.

Try to delete that first. Maybe winow location is stored there aswell. (it will be re-created when you open PS).

There’s a topic in the FAQ about this problem which should help you 🙂

YOU ARE A GENIUS!

I just removed all of the .psp files from my application data folder for photoshop, they recreated themselves, and its back!

THANKS!
