In Photoshop 7 I was able to use ctrl+z as my undo and keep undoing. I would use ctrl+shift+z to redo and keep redoing.

Now in Photoshop CS I am not given the option to change JUST the redo keyboard shortcut under preferences>general the way I was able to in PS7. Is there something I am missing here or did they remove that feature so that ctrl+z now ONLY can toggle between undo and redo?

Hessle,

Are you sure you’re not overlooking inclusion of ALT in your undo shortcut…namely, ALT+CTRL+Z to undo (step backward) and SHIFT+CTRL+Z to redo (step forward). As I recall, CTRL+Z has always been a simple undo/redo toggle going back to PS4 at least.

Hessle,

You can change the keyboard shortcut for Undo to get the functionality you want by selecting "Keyboard Shortcuts" from the Edit menu. Adobe now calls Undo "Step Backward". I changed it to Ctrl-Z so it works like it did in PS7.

Daryl,

Nope, there’s a drop-down in PS7 to change the way Undo/Redo works. It’s on the General screen of Preferences

TMalcom,

Thanks…having never used that particular setting, I’d forgotten it was available. I stand corrected.
