Here’s a wierd one:

In Photoshop 7.0, after I open up an image and I go to either "Image–Mode–Assign Profile…" or "Image–Mode–Convert to Profile…", instead of getting the appropriate text windows for these things, I get an eyedropper in the image that’s asking me to sample a color. I removed the program, then reinstalled it and got the same thing. One thing that I notice is that even though I supposedly removed the entire program and all associated files ewith the Windows XP "Add/Remove Programs" in Control Panel, I still see, for instance, my "Open Recent" pictures as well as some preferences from the deleted program. These appear to be the only two things that don’t work even though they have up until now.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Regards,
Doug

When you reinstalled the program, did you delete the prefs as well?

You can delete the prefs by clicking the PS icon and holding Ctrl+Alt+Shift. You’ll get a diolog box the says "Delete the Photoshop settings" or something to that wording, just click yes.

Thanks, Ed, but are you talking about the desktop Icon that I double click to start PS, or are you talking about the Icon in the upper left hand of the PS window when it’s running. I tried a bunch of combinations but to no avail. I didn’t see anything about deleting the Photoshop settings and only managed to get the desktop Icon’s properties and close the program once it was started. This by holding down ctrl+alt+shift at the same time while single clicking and double clicking, etc. etc.

Thanks,
Doug

Double click on the desktop icon first, then hold down Crtl+Atl+shift until the diolog box appears.

Thanks a zillion, Ed!!! That worked just fine and lo and behold, my Profile things are just fine now! How it did that, I have no idea. The problem I had was that I actually did what you said before, but this new computer is so fast, at least once PS is in RAM rather than when it loads off the drive, that I wasn’t catching it in time. I guess I’ve finally found a downside to a 3GHz P4 with 2GB of PC3200 DC DDR RAM!

Thanks again,
Doug
