I just recently installed an optorite 201 DVD writer to my computer. It easily stores PSD format photos on CD’s but has a hard time with DVD’s. I am using Roxio’s drag and drop program with XP. Most of the time it corrupts the DVD’s when I try to finalize the disk so it can’t be copied or written on again. Is there a better DVD writer out there or am I missing something?

If you write once and put it away, it should work fine. I never trust rewriteable CD or DVD media. CD’s on cost 25 cents each and DVD’s are now coming down in price also.

I create a folder on my hard drive and copy image files until I have enough to burn a DVD (used to be the same for CD). Then I make two copies and keep one off site.

Philip,

Are you sure it supports Packet Writing for DVD media. I just looked at their web site and they only mention support for CD-R/RW. I would suggest using Roxio CD creator since your drive may not fully support packet writing. Unfortunately you may have learned a hard lesson on why the price was so low on your drive.
