Default Showing Extras is Killing ME!!!! Can I stop this?

Everytime I open a file in PS it "Shows/Extras"? Is there a way to set the default to stop this from happening?…why should I have to cntrl-H to hide these everytime I open a file?

Plus, the "Save for Web" default is to show slices…it’s driving me nuts…why should I have to select the Hand tool and turn slices off everytime I want to "Save for Web"…is there a way to change this default?

Please help I’m suffering from xtras-slice unnecessary click syndrome…
