I can use CRT-SPACE BAR-+ to zoom in, but what short cut gives me zoom out? I have tried ALT-SPACE BAR– , but don’t work.

CTRL+Space Bar zooms in
ALT+Space Bar zooms out

why are you also using the + and – keys?

Forgot to add to click with the mouse while using the key combo I just posted.

I use the plus key , so that I don’t have to use the mouse. I believe MAC does it with one key for zoom in and one for zoom out. Not three. I use wacom pen and keyboard.

CTRL + zooms in

Because I use my left hand for the keyboard and the keys are next to each other. It’s easy and intuitive. There is no one way to do things, fortunately. It’s about using what works for you.

Larry,

My post was actually directed at nvslater rather than you….

I was puzzled about using the space bar as well, but the difference appears to be that the CTRL +/- option for zooming is a full image zoom whereas the space bar alternative is a shortcut for the Zoom Tool itself, zooming in/out according to the area you designate via the mouse.
