Does anyone know of any plugins or programs that have eyelashes, eyebrows, lipliner, etc. already created that you can just layer onto a photo instead of drawing your own? I was told they were out there somewhere. Any leads would be appreciated!!

I do lots of pageant photos, and was told there was a program for creating eyelashes, eyebrows, etc. instead of having to draw them myself. I save the ones I have drawn to a file in PS7 so I can use them over and over, but would love to have a program that does it for me. Does anyone know what or where this program might be? Any leads would be appreciated!!

If you think about this for a minute, you will realize that any automated-eyelash software, if it existed (which I doubt – unless it was called "Barbie’s Digital Salon") would not do all your work for you, considering the multitude of perspectives and lighting situations.

I fear your saving of the hand-work you have done is the best you can hope for.

I appreciate your advice. I did download the Maya and it would be awesome for drawing eyebrows especially. Just need to figure out how to work the program so I can save the file and open it in Photoshop after I make the drawing. Thanks!

Since there are no programs that have layers of "real" eyelashes, eyebrows, etc., a program like Maya can help enhance or fill in the existing eyebrows in a photo via layering. By the way, have you even SEEN some of the pageant photo retouching sites?? You might not be asking that question. (I don’t retouch my pics to look artificial or phony at all) Anyway, I thought this was supposed to be a supportive forum?

Gloria,

Maya is a 3D software, and believe me, creating eyelashes in Maya will mean way more work than in PS

I don’t think there is an easy way to automate this. The best you can do is build up n imagea bank of lashes as you go.

Can’t help with eyelashes except to say…’

Lots of mascara??

But seriously…I am curious!

Are you just retouching?

Wouldn’t the ladies using one of those ‘glamour’ type photo sessions make more sense?

Why the need to manipulate lashes? Won’t it be obvious come live pagent time that those ‘photoshopped on’ lashes don’t really exist?

Just some friendly curiosity….that’s all! 🙂

thank you, Rene. After working with Maya for a bit, I have come to the same conclusion that you did, lol.

And Tina, they have glitz photo categories in pageants, where the pictures almost don’t look like the original when we are finished with them. The people involved are all ages as well. The photo judges look for lashes that are "crossed", skin tones that are not smooth, any tiny little flaw. They are really picky. So I need to totally remove the original lashes and liner and replace them with my more "Perfect" lashes, smooth the skin, remove any and all stray hairs, whiten teeth and eyes, put in catchlights, fix liner on lips, I have fixed teeth, etc. The crazy thing is I really enjoy doing these pageant photos. Just was looking for a quicker way to fix eyebrows, lips, lashes.

By the way, to be fair, there are "natural" photo categories too for those who don’t want to have their photos retouched.

Thank you all for your input!!

Yes, Gloria, you are right that many child model photographers want to create a stereotyped flawless look. Look at www.toddglover.com/welcome.html for instance. I would not try to create eyelashes from scratch, but accentuate them. One could do this my mild brightening of the eyes, running USM, stepping back and painting history brush (to USM state) in darkening mode. If you do wish to draw them from scratch, the best hope is that you have a good Wacom tablet and a steady hand. You could copy and paste a few good eyelashes or even create a "brush" that does eyelashes. Personally, I don’t care for the look.

Gloria,

If you are going to go to that much trouble you might as well mount artificial lashed to a styrofoam head painted chroma green. You could take high res pictures from different angles and easily extract the lashed.

Maya is overkill. If you were going to use a mesh you would probably have someone model it for you since you are not familiar with 3D software. You would then use a compositing program capable of importing 3D meshed to position, scale and perhaps texture the lashes to fit each image. This would still be excessive for you in my opinion.

I think you are better off modifying the lashes that are already there. Copy past scale and remove as necessary.
