Hi all hope someone can help.

Firstly i’ll admit i’m a slight novice when it comes to Photoshop so excuse me if i sound a little dumb!

Here’s my problem, ive scanned a couple of photo’s and i’m having big trouble trying to re-size them.

I’m trying to go from source photo, which is A4 in size to 10×8 and 6×4(in) Can’t seem to do this correctly, the nearest i got to it was when i printed one out but it seemed ‘fat’ the end result, bit like wrong aspect
ratio in film’s ( squashed up persons)

I must have read 3 or 4 books on this but no joy.

Ive tryed the Resize wizard but that doesnt include the sizes i want.

This is my last attempt here at getting around this problem.

If any more details are needed i’ll be glad to give them you.

Thanks in advance for the help ( if any is forthcoming!)

leew.

10×8 and 6×4 aren’t the same aspect ratios for starters.

Try to accomplish what you want by linking the Width and Height in the resize dialog.

Maybe you want to cut-off (crop) some.
Set the desired wxh in pixels in the Crop option bar.

Without doing the math, I would assume that the sizes you are trying to achieve aren’t proportionate to the size of the original. that would explain why they aren’t available in the resize wizard.

Forcing them to a non-proportionate size is why you’re getting "squashed up persons".

Resize so the one dimension fits your desired size and the other dimension falls short. Then add canvas so that the resulting image is the correct size but has borders. That will allow your image to print properly without cropping.
