Photoshop Tryout question

Well, everyone at Adobe knows about my problem with not being able to run PSCS even though it’s activated because something in my computer doesn’t like the activation file. (We don’t need to get into that again, we’ve already tried everything there is to try, and I’ve even uninstalled almost every program on my computer trying to get it to work over the weekend).

My new questions are, when the PSCS tryout becomes available, will there be any way to turn it into a licensed version? (Without the activation file that doesn’t agree with my computer). And, if I already have an activated copy of PSCS on my computer will there be a conflict with the download?

I would like to find this out before I try to do the download when it becomes available over a dial up connection. (Although I think I will probably download the trial because I would really like to see all the features I bought the program for even if I can only use it for 30 days, but I don’t know whether or not I should uninstall my copy first or not, and whether I should do the full uninstall where it removes the activation information or just the regular one).

I’m still keeping the program in the hopes that sometime in the near future there is a fix. I really want it! That’s why I didn’t return it even though I can’t use it. (Just in case anyone asks why I didn’t return it).

Thanks, and everyone at Adobe has been great in spite of not being able to help.

Kathi,

As the tryout is protected with a different technology than the activation included in the full product, it should download, install and run on your system. While the tryout and full product can coexist on a system, given the issues you’ve experienced, you should uninstall the full version before installing the tryout

There isn’t any mechanism available to turn the tryout into a non expiring version.

Katherine,

Off Topic in this thread I know and I am probably way off the mark but about your activation problems –

Do you have any boot sector protection turned on in your BIOS, if the activation info is written to an ‘undocumented’ sector of the disk could this be stopping it?

Or even any of the disk utility programs which allowed older OS’s to see large disks. Some time back when It was migrating a Win98 PC to Win2k I had all kinds of problems removing a Maxtor EzDisk utility – also resident in the boot sector and totally invisible to the OS once the PC had booted.

That’s a good idea dave (or at least one that hasn’t been checked, i think!) Katherine, it’ll be in your bios setup program and would be called something like boot sector anti-virus protection.

Thanks guys, I’ll check that. I assume I find it by going into the BIOS when I restart the computer?

Nope, I couldn’t find anything like that at all, but thanks for trying.
