Hey, last night I had to reinstall win 2k on my computer. When I went to start up photoshop 7.0 it gave me an error saying "Could not complete your request because of missing or invalid personalization information."

I’ve lost my CD so I can’t just do a reinstall on photoshop. Is there anything that might fix this? Thanks.

only thing to do is reinstall photoshop. if you don’t have a cd you’ll need to call adobe (hopefully you’ve registered). They should be able to send you a new cd, but you might have to upgrade if they don’t have any version 7 left in stock. either that or find your cd! (I try not to lose my $600.00+ software!)

It wasn’t as much as lost as taken, really. Old roommate kinda gnabbed it on their way out and never told me. Just found out last night that they had taken it. Little late to get it back now. Thanks for the help, though.

bummer. as I said, if you registered (again, it’s always wise to register expensive software) adobe should be able to help you if you call customer service: 1-800-492-3623.

A backup cd of the major software is a good idea. Include the s/n on the label.

Annie,

You just did a reinstall of windows without reformatting?

In that case Photoshop should work fine.

I have copied the Photoshop folder from a system backup before and it will run even if it hasn’t been installed. I believe you still need to enter the serial number the first time, but I can’t remember.

Check this registry key to see if it is intact…

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersio n\Uninstall\Adobe Photoshop 7.0]

Here is a link, same problem but it is dealing with Elements instead.

At any rate you should call Adobe to get your serial number and a replacement CD as Dave suggested.

You have to add the following registrykey to make Photoshop CS work when repackaged.

Create a .reg file with the following, and Photoshop will get the information it requests… Use your own serial of course.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersio n\Uninstall\{EFB21DE7-8C19-4A88-BB28-A766E16493BC}]
"ProductID"="10451412621046193735XXXX" "RegCompany"="Statoil"
"RegOwner"="End user"
"Serial"="Use your own serial!!!"
