I’m wondering what’s happening with my Adobe products…

When I click File > Open and navigate to a folder that has images I want to work with, before I can even select a file the whole program just crashes. And it crashes in a weird way – I don’t get an error message, the windows that are open having to do with PS or Elements just vanish, as though I never had the software open.

No other software seems affected. I’m running Windows XP, and have 1.5G of RAM on my machine.

Can anyone offer some advice?

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

Here’s some other info that might help – if I navigate (outside of PS), from My Computer > My Docs…. and get to a file I want to open, if I right click and choose ‘Open With’, and select PS, I can open the file and work with it just fine. Is there some sort of internal cache that gets overloaded possibly?

I just tried deleting the preferences file as indicated in another thread – no dice. Still have the problem.
