Hi!

I know this question is a little out there, but..

My first exposure to Photoshop was while working at a newspaper in 1995. I believe that the version of PS in use was 3.0x. Included with that version of Photoshop was a small booklet of tutorials, including one where a poem was overlayed on top of a photo of the ocean and I think the shape of a hand or maybe just a shape of some kind.. It used farily sophisticated masks, etc.. I am curious if anyone knows what I am talking about and might know of a website where this tutorial is available? I’d like to try to replicate it for someone.. I know that similar things are available / doable, but for this I’d really like to have access to that specific tutorial.

Thanks!

Rich

Richard,

I just dug out my PS 3.0 tutorial book and nothing like what you are looking for was there.

I remember something like that too, from the Russell Brown tutorials, it may have been mac only.

Okay, since we’re on the subject of long-gone but vaguely remembered tutorials…

How about the one by Deke McClelland in the Adobe Training section with the overlay of the woman onto the canvas background???

Adobe has ditched all previous Expert center tutorials, providing now only for CS…stupid in my opinion, but not all that surprising.

Why can’t Adobe support previous releases of its own software???

Richard…PS3 came with a 25-page color tutorial booklet, "Beyond the Basics."

On page 4 is a tutorial on creating collages with clipping groups. The example used a statue for a mask, a photo of the ocean and type (poem) from Adobe Illustrator.

The images were credited to Karen Tenenbaum.

I couldn’t find any of the images on the PS3 CD.

Rich, I see you already have the answer to your question. Yes, I have that small tutorial booklet on pg4 to pg5. Its called creating collages with clipping groups. If you want, I’m a pretty good typist, I can type the instructions and you should be able to follow with your own images.

There are 13 pictures with about one or two sentences for each picture.

Hey all,

Sorry if my original answer was false. I was loooking at a 150 page book called Tutorial Adobe Photoshop 3.0. Sorry to be negative, guess I never got the smaller one.

Peace

Thanks for all the feedback.. 🙂 I might search on Google for some of the names of the people who created the images mentioned in the posts and see what I can find.
