Photoshop closes unexpectedly when doing a file save as

I have gotten a new computer with home XP. Photo shop worked okay at first, but now closes without any save options when I try to save as a file.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try deleting your prefs – Details in The FAQ at the top of this forum’s topic list

Thanks for your help. I have version 7.0 of Photoshop.
I deleted the prefs – that did not help.

Try installing the 7.0.1 update. Mine does that occasionally and I’m also using XP home. First time the deleting of the prefs helped. Then it started again. I loaded the update, then it helped again. A few weeks ago it did its trick but hasn’t repeated it since and I’ve been using PS daily, but I kinda cringe when I go to save – like I’m going to get shocked or something. It certainly has trained on me to save often. I think it’s just poltergeists that come and go and I can’t seem to find "exorcism" in the FAQ.
