You need to set the Language for Non-Unicode Programs in the Regional Settings control panel (you’ll may need to hunt for it under an Advanced… button) to the language you want to enter – you’ll need to reboot after changing this. While Photoshop is Unicode internally, Photoshop 7.0 still used platform encoding for text entry.

Photoshop CS has direct inline Unicode entry and uses Unicode filenames, the non-Unicode language setting is still needed for some filters that deal with files.

Dear Scott

TQ for your comments.

But I could not locate the control panel you are referring to.

Could you enlighten me where is it

On XP, Control Panels, Regional and Language Settings, Advanced tab. Language for non-Unicode programs.

I don’t remember where it is on Win2k – I think there was an Advanced button somewhere.

Dear Scott,

WEnt to the Regional settings in the Advanced tab. Changed the language to Chinese (PRC)

Launch a Chinese Star XP program as the word editor to input new words.

Went to Adobe General Preference tab and activated the Asian text options and deactivate the English font option

Still cannot input the Mandarin characters to the documents

Any last tips to do so

Thank you
