Adobe has essentially blocked family use of Photoshop with their new activation policy. We have four family computers, three of which need to use Photoshop for home and hobby purposes. We just purchased the entire CS Suite and my husband discovered after loading it on both laptops and our darkroom computer that only two activation licenses are included. Now I must either buy an entire additional suite or upgrade each package individually, which will be a great deal of money. This is ridiculous for people who are luck if they can find a little time every week to work on photography!

Adobe needs to begin a family license if they wish to appeal to the full range of users. We are NOT using the software for commercial purposes, but we will be penalized for three uses. Commercial licensing requires a minimum of 5 users. I am very angry because we have been loyal Adobe users for many years and feel cheated. It also is difficult when moving photographs around a home network to have different versions running. I won’t even mention the issues of keeping everything updated and running smoothly.

Please Adobe . . . trust families not to cheat you and honor us with some special consideration.

Try contacting Adobe Customer Support. This is a user to user forum and you’re not going to get a whole of help here on this topic.

BTW, for right or for wrong, you’ve just admitted to breaking the EULA.

Janet,

If you are installing on more than two computers you are cheating Adobe. Under the EULA you may install on no more than 2 computers and one must be for work and the other for home. You may not use a single Photoshop license on more than one computer at a time.

Commercial licensing requires a minimum of 5 users.

Yes and the price is the same.

Adobe needs to begin a family license.

Adobe does have software with families in mind it is called Elements and it is in the range of $50 per license.

If you feel you need to stick with Photoshop and your children are still in school they would qualify for Educational licenses which cost much less.

Sorry, this will fall on deaf ears, and of ears that will single you out for breaking the EULA.

Get used to these spellings now and you’ll begin to understand why Adobe exists in the first place: Photo$hop. Element$. Illu$trator. It’s a recurring theme that cares not about the end user anymore, if it ever did…and after your post, I bet the only thing they honor you with is a cease and decist order on any copies running above 2 in one place and above 1 at any one time. Of course, if you had Mac computers, you wouldn’t be having this issue. Thank Adobe for that too, as they are blatently biased against anyone with a PC it would seem.

Bob, I have a new PC at home. Can I reuse my Photoshop Elements 2 on the new PC? It has been used once–on the old PC I had at home.

Elements doesn’t have activation, so you should be fine.
