Hi all,

I’m new to the PC photoshop interface and I am currently unable to toggle (select) between different layers. I’m currently editing a document with multiple layers. If I select Window / Layers from the pull down menu at the top of the screen, I get a small window in the upper right hand portion of the screen with the following four items: Normal (pull down menu), Opacity, Lock, and Fill. How do I see all the layers in my document? I can’t figure it out.

Many Thanks,

Jesse

To select a layer, just click on it in the layers palette (the little window that came up from Windows/layers.

You can drag any layer to a new position in the list (except the one called background layer. You can move it too, if you rename it first by double clicking it).

You cannot see through an opaque layer, but play with the opacity slider for different effects.

This is really basic stuff, reading the first few manual pages should help you understand it better.

Right, I know how to use the layers Palette, the problem is that I can’t see the layers Palette. When I select Window / Layers, I don’t see a list of layers, I only see the four items that I described before.

Thanks.

OK, I figured it out. The layer palatte was "docked" to the menu bar and apparently when it is in that position it doesn’t give you the layer selection option. I chose Window / Workplace / Reset palatte locations and it showed me the palatte I was looking for.

Thanks for you input.
