How do I wrap an image around a sphere or another image? Have been playing with Filter>Distort, but haven’t found how to accomplish it.

Does the Spherize filter do what you want?

Colin,
filter>distort>spherize, does not achieve the effect. You have a rectangle shape decal. You also have an orange. Now stick the decal on the orange. Trying to accomplish the same type of perspective the decal would have when viewed on the orange.

Use the 3D transform filter. That’s what it was designed for. If you don’t know how, do a search. There are a few great tutorials, one involving spherizing a logo, one putting a number on a "cueball".

Where is the 3D transform filter? Am I blind or something?

Hey, Photoshop 6 has 3D transform. CS doesn’t. Does anybody know where it’s gone?

Emencz,
I believe filter>render>3d transform, is what Ol’Whozit is referring to. That is in version 7.

I cannot get it to achieve what I need. There has to be a way to wrap an image with another image.

Another example… if I take an American Flag and drape it over a car.

3d transform is in the goodies folder on the disk (CS).

Um…. I lost the disk. Is there anywhere I can download 3D transform?

My primary site went down in a nasty crash. A lot of stuff was lost. I have the space back, but I haven’t uploaded just yet.

However, I do have a mirror up:
Technical Slop <http://www.playfiddlelearn.com/tech-slop/index.shtml> : Table of Contents <http://www.playfiddlelearn.com/tech-slop/tob.shtml>
The one in particular mentioned by John: Cannify < http://www.playfiddlelearn.com/tech-slop/cannify/index.shtml> which is 3 pages long (page nav at bottom).

For boxish shapes, I recommend Power Distort <http://www.photoshopgurus.info/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3870>.

If you have other shapes in mind, I might be able to accomodate those as well depending.

Hello people.

I went to Stroker’s Technical Slop and found what I was looking for under Cannify.

Filter>Distort>Shear did the trick. I was able to give my image the appearance it is bending around a continuous round curve.

I was reading further a little bit and not sure what D-map means, and how Alpha channels come in to play.

"D-Map" was coined by Kai Krause (as far as I know it was him) many years ago in his infamous Kai’s Power Tips (not to be confused with Kai’s Power Tools). "D-Map" is short for "Displacement Map".

When you use Filter > Distort > Displace, the dialog will eventually ask you to load a PSD file. The PSD file that you use is the D-Map. So, a D-Map is a PSD file that is use for Displace.

The Alpha channels in Cannify are used for masking after distortion has been applied to the target.

Kids killing each other.
Gotta go.

Is the 3D Transform filter the same as the one in version 7? Was there any changes to the CS version from verision 7?

There was no Goodies folder on the Adobe CS install discs and I would like to have this filter back. Can anyone help me?
