If the logo is going to appear on a colored or textured background on the web, you must have the area around the logo be a solid color that you can assign transparency to.

Save as a PSD before the following steps.
Image>Mode>Index Color
Image>Mode>Color Table and using the eye dropper click on the color to be transparent. Save For Web as a GIF with transparency checked. Make sure the amount of colors you save it is the lowest number that still makes the image look good. You can see the comparison if you set Save For Web up to show a double paned view. The fewer number of colors, the smaller the file size, the worse the image looks. It’s a compromise.

Gif or png for simple images, jpeg for complex images such as photos etc.

If you have a combo of complex imagry and text, slice it up in ImageReady so you can save the parts that should be gif as such and the parts that should be jpeg as such.

Photoshop_Newbie,

I suggeest you avoid using .PNG for your web graphics. Current web browsers have very limited support for them and some of your viewers will not be able to view a PNG file properly.

You will be better off sticking with GIF and/or JPG.

saved my logo as jpg couple times and it seems little blury. what should i save my lmages as?

As a rule, always retain your PSD file and save to web as a JPEG from the original PSD. JPEG is a lossy image format and with each save image quality is compromised. After several saves the image becomes a royal mess. Corrections, if you need them, should be done on the PSD and then resaved as JPEG’s.
