Hi all,

I am trying to batch imprint the date&time taken from my digital camera photos.

How do you access the metadata (EXIF) as text and apply text effects?

Have you tried the help files? Image/image info then EXIF tag works in PS7 Text is the T in the tool box. Unless you are looking for an automated process to do what you did not let the camera itself do. If so no clue here, I have no desire to see any stamps on my images.

Thanks for your reply. I am doing this for printing about 800 jpg’s, the lab I’m using don’t do date & time and the camera doesn’t either; the originals are not altered.

Photoshop CS doesn’t have "Image/image info" although it does have "File Info…" with some EXIF data but seems useless.

Sorry, but I missed the original post. Does the data (date/time) already exist in the EXIF of the pictures? (As you know, it would be in the File Information, however the File-Browse feature is better.) If it does NOT exist in the picture information, then about the only way you can print the data is to make contrive it, possibly using the system file date/time which can be changed. It’s easier on OSX, but can be done on Windows. It can also be done with scripting.

So, where’s the date/time? 🙂 (Try the File-Browser to look at a folder of images in question, and watch the lower left windowpane.)

I have the script that does what you want, Mohammed. You can get it free from Adobe’s CS script downloads. It is by Michael Exner and is named addExifDate1.3

If you want the time included with the date, just open the script in a text editor and change the string "var noTime = 1" to "var noTime = 0".

Adobe’s site requires registration, but it is well worth it. Or you can write me at
