I know people have fixed this error by resetting their preference files, but that’s just not working with me.

I’m using Photoshop 8 (CS), with 1gb ram and enough hard drive space to kill. My CPU is an Athlon 1800+xp.

Any suggestions at all? I’ve tried restarting. I’ve tried reinstalling. I’ve tried deleting preference files. I’ve tried EVERYTHING I can think of. It’s getting frustrating and Adobe support has been ZERO help.

Thanks.
