I have been using adobe photoshop 7 in school and I was wondering if there was a way to Resize or Rotate Just a selected picture. What I mean is Im trying to make a picture with a background and I added an object in the foreground. I would like to rotate it without rotating the entire picture, just the object I added(An airplane in this example) then just resize just the object.

I don’t have an instructor or anything Im just trying to figure out photoshop on my own, and I find it a little strange that you cant just select the object and resize and rotate with the same selection tool, maybe its just me

Thanks

If the object is on it’s own layer, select the layer and Edit>Transform>Rotate.

I missed the resize part. After rotating the layer, drag it with the move tool to a new canvas and resize. Then paste it back in and delete the original layer the object was on.

Transform! I would have never thought of that! (they should have it say something easy like just plain rotate :))

Thanks very much

Larry,
why would you want to drag it to a new layer to resize? You have the transform already selected, and the transform is made for "transforming" and image, like resizing and changing perpective and many other things.

That’s true,
Edit>Transform>Scale

What was I thinking?….

I just found a new way to do it
select the object with Marquee tool then go to the move tool and select "show bounding box"

it shows the resing handles you could use just like I wanted to

Edit>Transfor>Scale does the same thing too

thanks
