Since a week I have a new PC (Dell 8300, Pentium4, 2,6 GHz) with Windows XP Prof. When I installed Photoshop 7 I discovered a color cast (violet) in the swatches and on the photos that I open in PS. I checked my other newly installed programs (Illustrator &): none of them has this problem. ONLY PS is concerned!! The monitor is well calibrated. I uninstalled PS7 en installed the older version (PS6) and got the same result: a violet color cast! On my old PC (MSI, 1,2GHz) with Windows 2000 Prof I never have had this problem with PS, although I have the same color settings! Who knows where this problem comes from?

Run Adobe Gamma to calibrate your monitor.

Hi Bob
Yes, you were right, I had to use the Gamma Control. When I saw that the colors & in all other graphics apps, except in Photoshop were right, I thought there must be a problem in Photoshop itself. But after using the Adobe Gamma that made no difference for the other apps, but the color cast in PS has disappeared. I don’t understand that different behaviour, but it worked! So, thank you very much for your advise.
