In Photoshop CS, use the history log, in the preferences. the only other solution is to start recording an action if you still have Ps7… but it is not wht it is designed for…
If going to use the History Log feature I would suggest using the Meta Data option and selecting "Detailed". Whilst it may not be obvious why or for what benefit you’ll find History Log is still worth using with some images. I know of one photo involved in forensic photography who thinks this feature alone made the price of the upgrade worthwhile. Goodness only knows what this info will be used for in future versions of Photoshop;)
I am getting CS in January and was looking into whether a log could be created as learning "tool". The history recording sounds just right.
Even better if you could "run" the history on another image and do it step by step changing settings if required thus making a "new" history unique to that image.
As I say I perceive it as learning tool, PS professionals would not need it but as tyro I can see the benefits.

I am so new they have not cut the cord yet, so bare with me when you say use the "Meta Data" where and what is it.??
will this "save" the history, tools and settings used, to the image being worked on for future reference.
merry Chrismas and thanks alot
