I have used photshop for years as a pre-press tech/print designer and am just getting into the realm of web design.

Problem:

I have created a product page for a jewellery designer.
On the left hand side of the web page is to be an array of thumbnails. The right hand side of the page is for the larger shot of the product. So far I have ultilized the in,over, click and out states making the large product shot layer visable on click.

When the out state of the thumbnail OR the in state of another the larger product shot is no longer visable.
This all works wonderfully.

THE ISSUE: The client would rather have the large product shot visable until the next thumbnail is clicked rather than have it disappear when the out/in state is activated.

I continue to work on it and I’m not getting any closer. I’m online, send me an email if you have any answers or suggestions.

Thank you so much….

I’m curious to see how (or if) this is answered. I use Frontpage and sometimes incorporate code from Dreamweaver into the pages for mouse over effects. I would think that the link would have to be clicked on for the image to show until the next image is then clicked on. But the mouse over effect is just a java script. You might do a search for java script in Google to see if it’s even possible.

Larry:

Thanks for a quick opinion.

As it happens I am using dreamweaver to pull all the remailing html elements together. Should I look here for the effect I’m trying to create?
I am a complete newby to Dreamweaver.
AS well the thought of trying to learn Java script code fills me with dread. lol…..code phobic at this point.

Thanks

Learning javascript? There are numerous web sites that offer examples of javascript code that you can modify. Just do a search. I don’t know much about Dreamweaver but there are a few forums out there you can join.

Andrew,

Take a look at http://www.carolsteele.co.uk/pages/portraits.html

Is that the sort of thing you are trying to do (assuming the images did not disappear onMouseOut)

Actually the script that you are looking for is being used on this web site: <http://www.hookephoto.com/>
The images stay after the mouse passes over the thumbnail.

Pulled an all nighter….then went to work *yawn*.
Figured it out in Dreamweaver…now just have to get my head around web design issues…lol….always something new to learn. Now to massage it til I think it’s perfect….does that EVER happen? Why doesn’t Netscape like rollovers…I suppose that would be too easy right? I’m quite sure you’ll be hearing from me again as I make
more and more complicated sites.

Used photoshop and imageready to compile the final images. Thanks Adobe!!!! I don’t think I could do ANYTHING without your products.

Just got the CS suite at the Toronto Star where I work.
Version queue just absolutely ROCKS….worth the price of the package right there….This will help when we roll OSX out to the entire
production dept next year, as well as migrating the creative dept. to INDESIGN. Quark has totally blown it as far as I’m concerned. InDesign is indeed the quark killer.

Happy Holidays to EVERYONE!!!!
Hope everyone gets some new wares, soft or hard.
Be good to one another, and if you have to be bad……
For pity’s sake DO NOT take video,
it WILL come back to bite you.
