I have a problem. My photoshop 6.0.1 tends to sometimes "restart". When I start it up it prompts me about customizing my color palette like when I first started it up after I install it. Then all my brushes and such that I’ve uploaded onto it myself are gone. Its like I installed it again. How can I fix this? or whats going on?

I suspect that your preferences file has become corrupt. It could be a fluke or due to a pending hard disk issue. There’s a knowledgebase article about the location of your preferences (a PSP file). Find it, make a backup to another folder, then reset your preferences per the procedure in the Faq. If it continues to happen, suspect your HD and do some diagnostics.

Peace,

Tony!

Please shoot me an email. I had a browser meltdown and lost all of my archived email and my Mozilla address book.

And don’t be such a stranger ’round these parts!

Merry Christmas to you and yours as well!

Phos,

To all,

Thanks for the warm welcome; sigh, yes, I’m back, thanks to a few compelling e-mails. You guys are great.

Paula,

Copy the file to clipboard (right click on it and copy), then go to any folder and paste it there. You don’t HAVE to back it up, but all you are trying to do is make a copy of it somewhere other than the folder it’s currently in.

Peace,
Tony
